Kickboxing Classes in Bushwick, Brooklyn: Dutch Style
Boxing combinations, hard low kicks, and nonstop partner drills. Dutch kickboxing is the style that built the K-1 era, and this kickboxing class brings its pace and structure to our Bushwick striking gym, minutes from Williamsburg and Bed-Stuy.

What is Dutch Kickboxing?
Dutch kickboxing is the style that came out of Amsterdam gyms in the 1970s and 80s, when Dutch coaches blended Kyokushin karate, Western boxing, and Muay Thai into one kickboxing system. The result is a punch-first approach: boxing combinations that end with a hard low kick, thrown at a pace that never lets your partner settle. If you have searched for kickboxing classes or boxing classes in Brooklyn and want both in one session, this is the class.
Where traditional Muay Thai is patient and rhythmic, the Dutch style is aggressive and high-volume. Fighters like Ramon Dekkers, Ernesto Hoost, and Peter Aerts made it the dominant style of the K-1 era, and its drilling method is still how most modern kickboxers train.
At Diamondheart, Dutch Style Drills/Kickboxing runs Tuesdays at 8 PM and is built around that method: set combinations, partner drills with gloves and shin guards, and rounds that build the conditioning to keep throwing in the last minute.

- •Beginners who learn best from set combinations and repetition
- •Anyone who wants a hard evening workout with real technique behind it
- •Fighters preparing for kickboxing or Muay Thai rules bouts
How Each Class Works
Warm-Up and Shadowboxing
Movement, footwork, and shadow rounds to get the combinations moving before gloves go on.
Combination Drills
The coach sets the sequences for the night, for example jab, cross, hook, low kick. You drill them on pads or with a partner, adding speed and power as the round goes on.
Partner Rounds
Gloves and shin guards on. One partner attacks with the set combination, the other blocks, checks, and returns. Intensity is matched to experience, so beginners drill light and experienced strikers can push the pace.
Conditioning Finish
Short, hard rounds on the bags or pads to build the engine the Dutch style runs on.
Kickboxing vs. Boxing: Which Should You Train?
Boxing is hands only: punches, head movement, and footwork, refined to a very high level. Kickboxing adds kicks and knees to that base, so you learn to attack and defend at every range. If you want the deepest possible punching game, start with our boxing classes. If you want punches and kicks in one session, Dutch kickboxing is the fastest way in, and it builds the same boxing fundamentals along the way.
Many members train both. Boxing sharpens the hands that drive every Dutch combination, and kickboxing teaches you to finish those combinations with the low kick. Your membership and free trial week include every striking class, so you can try boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai before you pick a focus.
Dutch Kickboxing vs. Muay Thai
Both are full-contact striking arts and the techniques overlap heavily. The difference is emphasis. Muay Thai includes elbows and clinch work and favors a measured rhythm with heavy single strikes. Dutch kickboxing drops the clinch, leans on boxing combinations, and finishes almost everything with a low kick, at a faster pace.
Training both makes you a more complete striker. Our Muay Thai program covers the clinch and the full eight-limb toolkit. This class sharpens your hands, your kicks, and your pace. The two feed each other directly.
Dedicated Striking Floor
Our first floor features a complete striking area with a ring, heavy bags, Thai pads, and loaner gloves and shin guards for drilling. Plus access to our full strength & conditioning gym on the same floor to support your training.
