Frequently Asked Questions

What age can my child start?

We accept children as young as 3 years old in our Little Diamonds BJJ program. Youth Muay Thai starts at age 5. Classes are structured by age group so every child gets instruction suited to their developmental stage.

Will martial arts make my child more aggressive?

Actually, the opposite is usually true. Martial arts teaches children how to handle confrontation calmly and confidently. We emphasize respect for training partners and that skills are for self-defense, not aggression.

What does my child need for their first class?

Just comfortable athletic clothes they can move in (t-shirt and shorts or athletic pants). We have loaner gis for BJJ and loaner gloves for Muay Thai. Eventually, your child will want their own gear.

Can I watch my child’s class?

Absolutely! Parents are welcome to observe all youth classes. We have a comfortable viewing area where you can watch your child’s progress.

Can my child do both BJJ and Muay Thai?

Yes! Many of our young students train in both programs. Learning both striking and grappling creates well-rounded martial artists and keeps training varied and interesting.

Is there a ranking system?

Yes! BJJ kids progress through a youth belt system, and Muay Thai kids earn armbands. Regular testing gives children goals to work toward and celebrates their achievements.
