Wrestling Technique, Once a Month
The Wrestling Lab is a focused monthly session bringing collegiate-level wrestling instruction to Diamondheart. Led by Sam Eagan, each session on the last Monday of every month breaks down high-percentage takedowns, mat returns, scrambles, and chain wrestling in a structured, progressive format.
Whether you're a BJJ player looking to sharpen your standup game, a striker who wants to bring wrestling concepts into your clinch work, or a complete beginner curious about wrestling, this lab is for you. Sam builds each session so that fundamentals are covered before advancing to more complex sequences.
Every lab has a clear theme and progression. You'll drill technique, work positional rounds, and finish with live wrestling so you can pressure-test what you learned that day.

How Each Session Works
Warm-Up & Movement
Wrestling-specific warm-ups including shot drills, sprawls, hip switches, and partner movement patterns to get your body ready for the session.
Technique Block
Sam introduces the session's theme, whether that's a single-leg series, front headlock attacks, or underhook warfare, and walks through each technique step by step with demonstration and guided drilling.
Positional Drilling
Situational rounds where you start from specific positions and work the techniques you just learned against increasing resistance. This bridges the gap between drilling and live wrestling.
Live Rounds
Controlled live wrestling rounds to pressure-test your new skills. Intensity is scaled to experience level. Beginners go light, and experienced wrestlers can push the pace.
About Coach Sam Eagan
Sam Eagan brings Division 1 collegiate wrestling experience to Diamondheart. His coaching style emphasizes high-percentage technique, clear progressions, and creating an environment where athletes of all levels can learn and compete safely.
Sam's approach focuses on the fundamentals that work at every level: proper stance, level changes, finishing mechanics, and the chain wrestling mentality that separates good wrestlers from great ones. He breaks down complex sequences into digestible steps so you leave every session with something you can immediately apply.
Purpose-Built Mat Space
Diamondheart's dedicated second-floor mat area provides the space and surface quality needed for wrestling drills and live rounds. Professional-grade mats over concrete give you the right balance of cushion and stability for proper technique work.
